About the Artist
SHANE LAMB began learning to capture the beauty of Alaska through the magic of oil paints at the age of 12. He continued his formal art training, receiving a BFA from Brigham Young University in 1990. Since then, he has dedicated his professional life to painting the Alaska he knows, drawing inspiration from the land he feels is more beautiful than any other. He now resides near Palmer, Alaska in the scenic Matanuska Valley.
Although he has been influenced and inspired by many artists, past and present, his recognizable style is uniquely his own. His works are the culmination of many hours spent in the field experiencing the subject of each painting. Integrating a love of color and strong sense of composition, he creates work with a mood and realism that sets it apart. Lamb works in acrylics and oils, producing between 5-10 originals a year. As a self-published artist he is known for his limited-edition art prints with many sold-out editions.
Each year SHANE LAMB contributes his work to many important causes. He has been chosen as "featured artist" for many different fundraising events, including featured artist for KAKM public television's 2001 fundraising drive. In 1996 he was commissioned by the Alaska Railroad Corporation to create their annual railroad print and poster. The same year, he created the award winning 60th anniversary print, "A Time for Gathering", for the Alaska State Fair. In 2000, his painting "Where Men and Trains Seem Small" was selected to hang in the Anchorage Museum of History and Art's "All Alaska Juried Art Exhibition".
SHANE LAMB'S limited-edition prints and original paintings can be found in galleries and private collections throughout Alaska and the U.S.
