About Shane Lamb GicleesThe giclee process enables artists to reproduce their work on surfaces similar to what the original artwork was painted on. Watercolor artists can now reproduce their work on watercolor papers and oil painters can reproduce their work on canvas. Since each canvas is produced one at a time the buyer has the flexibility of choosing the size their giclee will be reproduced, including sizes much larger than traditional printing methods. A giclee reproduced on canvas starts out looking much more like an original than a lithograph print on paper. After the artwork is reproduced on canvas, each canvas is stretched on stretcher bars the same as an original oil painting. Each canvas is then coated with a special UV coating to protect it from harmful light rays. The giclee is then hand-painted in oils, embellishing the artwork and creating textures throughout the piece giving it the feel and look of an original as only the artist could. The canvas is then signed and numbered in paint and varnished exactly like an original oil painting. The giclee is framed and displayed without glass like an original painting so the viewer can enjoy the surface quality the artist has painted. The finished product looks and feels very much like an original painting, often fooling even the most discriminating eye. |
